A few photo's of day from last years event thank you for all who attended. We enjoyed it and you were all so gracious in your praise, hope to see you this year. The students receiving scholarships thank you as well. It was a wonderful day, the children that attended were able to put a picture with the grandparents stories of yesteryear and the good old days. It was for some a beautiful trip down memory lane. Merry Christmas to all.
The 2nd Annual Cracker Village Christmas will be held on December 5 and 6 this year at the Silver River Museum cracker village in the Silver Springs State Park. Experience an old fashioned Christmas & Holiday Open Air Market. The Pioneer Garden Club will adorn four buildings with period decorations spanning the mid-1800’s to the 1940’s. The cracker traditions of living close to the land will be evident in the decorations as well as the food served. Enjoy festive holiday music by local school groups, and on Sunday the Shape Note Singers will perform.
The Academy of Culinary Arts of Belleview High School will serve Cracker Cuisine on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and all proceeds will benefit the culinary program.
An open air holiday market added this year will offer baked goods and crafts. Each booth at the market will have special holiday treats and crafts for sale to raise money for educational scholarships that are given to local students.
Saturday Hours: 10 a.m. – 7p.m. Village Light-Up at 5:30 p.m.
Sunday Hours: 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. - Stroll around the Village & Open Air Market State Park Admission - $8/Car Load (up to 8 people)
Enjoy The Village, Museum, & Both Sides of the Park for one low price and use the Special Tram Service to go between the sides of the park on Saturday and Sunday. This Event sponsored by the Pioneer Garden Club with partners: The Silver River Museum & Silver Springs State Park.
You will be supporting our Scholarship Funds. Each year we award scholarships to local graduating high school students, majoring in fields such as horticulture, landscape architecture/design, botany, biology, ecology, forestry, or agriculture.
We also give scholarships for Camp Wekiva, a residential state youth camp for 3rd through 8th grade youngsters for the purpose of instilling a love and respect for Florida with nature studies, conservation and protection of our environment for the future of our state and our planet. Camp Wekiva is accredited by the American Camp Association. It is a great experience enjoying nature and crafts. Campers enjoy a great outdoor experience, with close supervision. The camp motto is "Campers Today - Environmental Leaders Tomorrow."
SEEK (Save the Earth through Environmental Knowledge) scholarships allow students to attend this annual environmental conference for high school students sponsored by the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs, each summer 70 students attend the outstanding 4 day conference. Students entering 10th, 11th and 12th grades are eligible to attend. The SEEK Conference focuses on today's critical environmental issues. For more info on these programs use this link .
